Energy efficiency optimization of water pump based on heuristic algorithm and computational fluid dynamics

Abstract To reduce the energy consumption of large centrifugal pumps, modified heuristic intelligent algorithms are used to directly optimize diffuser pumps. Considering hydraulic efficiency under design condition as optimization target, in this study, 14 geometric parameters such inlet diameter, outlet and leading trailing vane angles selected variables, particle swam gravitational search algorithm for space. The performance loss internal entropy production different models before after compared analyzed detail. results show that global ability is improved. model changes from cylindrical twisted, wrap angle increases, thickness edge decreases. Under condition, swarm solution increased by 2.75% 2.21%, while power remains unchanged. Furthermore, has largest lift improvement part-load conditions. After optimization, unstable flow improved reduced significantly. interior dominated turbulent direct operating conditions, wall accounts smallest proportion.
